First it is probably oversized for your house as almost all the older oil furnaces were. Second this furnace is one of those ' built like a tank ' units.The things that made is so tough is also the reason that it is most likely a 60% AFUE furnace.
Third while it is old,almost every part worth mentioning is availible so keeping it going is almost a sure thing. Fourth there is no warranty left on it. If you wanted a unit sized closer to your house,having an AFUE of 86%,thats built almost as tough,with a very good warranty then you might look at a Thermopride furnace. I have an old Williamson oil burner in my house, dont know how old. It's model #T187-10-1 and serial #D8525472. It's says on the fan housing 'specify model LAU when ordering parts'.
The fan is where my problem is, the bearing (s) is shot, also need a new belt for the fan motor. I dont know if I have to replace the whole fan and housing but that's better than buying a new furnace, which is what the two companies that have looked at it want me to do. I would love to know where I might find parts for this beast. Obviously I've already googled 'williamson oil burner parts', no luck.
